Portraiture series
I love drawing faces. There’s something so intriguing about the human face, and when I’ve had enough of drawing beer cans and Koalas, I’m always drawn back to portraiture. There’s a symmetry to the face, the way light and shadow hits it, I could just stare at these images all day. Blue Sky Mining is one of the great Australian albums from one of the great Australian bands. Midnight Oil’s career spanned over 50 years and they have used music to spread important messages about the environment, culture and Indigenous Australia. This classic album was left too long on our dashboard one summer – and it turned into this beautiful warped mess – luckily I was able to salvage it and turn it into an artwork.
