Celebrate Australian rock history with this photorealistic Midnight Oil Blue Sky Mining cassette art print. A perfect gift for music lovers and retro decor fans.
Blue Sky Mining remains one of the greatest Australian rock albums of all time. Released by Midnight Oil in 1990, the title track โBlue Sky Mineโ told the story of Wittenoom asbestos mine workers who suffered asbestos-related illnesses. Other unforgettable songs on the album include Forgotten Years, King of the Mountain and One Country โ each as powerful and relevant today as they were then.
This artwork is inspired by a personal memory from a family holiday to Byron Bay in the 90s. One scorching summer day, a Blue Sky Mining cassette was left on the carโs dashboard while we escaped to the beach. As our skin burned under the sun, so did the cassette โ warping and melting into a twisted relic of the era.
The original piece was hand-drawn by artist Dean Spinks in his signature photorealistic style, taking over 62 hours to complete. This contemporary art print captures every ripple, shadow and detail, making it a striking statement piece for music lovers, collectors of Australian rock history, and fans of nostalgic cassette culture.
This Giclee print reproduction is produced using Epson UltraChrome archival inks on premium Ultra Matt 250gsm paper to ensure artwork longevity and authentic artwork reproduction.
