A Fleeting Moment

A Fleeting Moment is the third work in the Shattered Vanity series.

At the centre of Shattered Vanity is the contrast between polished high-fashion portraiture and physical disruption. The image begins refined and composed, then is crushed, fractured and rebuilt through meticulous photorealistic drawing.

This piece was created entirely by hand over 53 hours using Copic marker, built layer by layer to achieve the tonal depth and subtle surface shifts that define the work.

The series marks a shift in my practice. Rather than simply replicating what I see, these works move into something more constructed and recognisable — my interpretation of photorealism. The distortion is deliberate. The fracture controlled.Unlike the earlier works in the series, A Fleeting Moment adopts a square format. As the body of work expands, each piece determines its own scale and physical presence.
